Day Prior Accomodations in Miami

I will be arriving in Miami a day prior to sailing in beautiful Miami. With so many hotels to choose from.. I am looking for recommendations on where to stay and things to do in Miami.

Hi Dawn,
Really need a little more info from you before I can help. What is your budget, how close to the pier do you want to stay etc. There are several hotels near the port.

I love Miami Beach!

If you enjoy night life and the beach, stay on Ocean Drive (Art Deco area) or Collins Avenue. I have stayed in Miami a few times and enjoyed staying at the La Mansion (reasonably priced)in January. It is on Ocean Drive and you walk across the street to the beach. However, if you want to sleep at night don't get an ocean view room (it can get noisy)! If you have time go to the Everglades or the Seaquarium. Have fun!

I would like to stay near the port, as I hear it is simply beautiful. However, I am still interested in visiting Miami Beach and would like to hear about a few fun spots.

The Intercontinental would be a top choice also there is a nice Sheraton and a Marriot. These would be my top three recomendations. They are close to Bayside Market and a easy ride to South Beach. Whatever you decide enjoy. [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif[/img]

Hi Dawn!
Visited Miami Beach last year and had a horrible stay at Doubletree Surfcomber - avoid it!!!
I would also recommend You staying near Bayside. It's a lovely place with lots to do, good atmosphere and many restaurants.

Reading these boards, it seems a lot of people like staying near Bayside to be close to the pier and to possibly get a hotel with a view of the port. Cab rides from there to the pier are around $6 or $7. I chose the Intercontinental because of the view and their current "world half off" promotion (ends 9/15, I think)...a $200+ room for $109...

I recently found this great travel search engine called www.qixo.com that may help you find a great deal. You can also search airfares (best search I've found yet) and car rentals.

I too recommend staying close to Bayside Market, it is a fun place to visit. The Best Western is okay [value property].... you may want to try something nicer.

The Days Inn by the port has free shuttle service to the port of miami. I heard that its nice and is perfect for a one night stay.
