Direct from Royal Caribbean, as of 8/30/08:

Liberty of the Seas, 8/30 Miami departure, will visit the planned ports, only in a different order - Labadee (Monday), San Juan (Tuesday), Philipsburg (Wednesday).

Keep checking the above link for future updates. Next update, per Royal Caribbean, will be by 10:30 EDT tomorrow (Sunday).

Update, August 31:

Mariner of the Seas, which departs Port Canaveral today, will skip Coco Cay, but proceed with its other ports of call as scheduled.

Next update will be tonight at 6:30 pm EDT at the link provided above. We'll report here, as well.

Sorry to be late with the 10:30 am EDT updates. There are two:

Majesty of the Seas, which departs the Port of Miami Monday, September 1, will be rerouted Nassau, Bahamas, Tuesday; be at sea Wednesday and visit Key West, Florida, Thursday. (We have at least one Member on this cruise, BTW.)

Sovereign of the Seas, which departs Port Canaveral Monday, September 1, will be rerouted to Nassau, Bahamas, Tuesday; and Key West, Florida, Wednesday, spending the night and departing Thursday morning.

As an aside, we had exactly the same rerouting about 10 years ago as Sovereign of the Seas is doing today. The crew was looking forward to overnighting in Key West -- it wasn't typical at the time, and I believe it still isn't.

Most importantly, our thoughts and prayers are with all impacted by Gustav, which made landfall in the U.S. a little while ago.

It is indeed unusual to overnight at Key West. That will be quite exciting for many passengers and crew, to be able to experience the night life. It is so common for ships to leave before sunset.

So far, the storm doesn't appear to be as bad as feared. That is certainly good news.

One final change due to Hanna:

Grandeur of the Seas, September 4 departure: changed the order of its ports of call; the revised schedule is Halifax (Sunday/today), St. John (Monday), Boston (Wednesday), before returning to Norfolk on Friday.
