I know that Carnival is having a increase in the fuel surcharge this month .I am looking at booking a cruise with Royal Caribbean, not real positive with dates & destination, but I want book it before they have an increase if one is in the near future.I was told it is presently $8 pp, per day .

I thought they just settled a law suit that said the cruise lines cannot increase a fuel surcharge once it has been paid. Or maybe they can't increase it once it has been booked.
Would someone who actually knows what they are talking about please help me out here
My understanding is that whatever the surcharge is on the date you booked is what you'll pay. I am not paying any surcharge for our upcoming cruise to Alaska, but some will be paying $5 and some $8 depending on when they booked the same cruise.
Most cruise lines are honoring if you are under deposit with names on the booking then they won't increase the fuel supplement. Carnival is raising their's on June 12th. I haven't seen RCI announce an another increase yet, but I would get it booked NOW!
Dave is correct. I know because I got a refund from RCL after our January cruise. I was also one of the people who wrote to our Attorney General, to complain. So now you will pay whatever the rate is when you book.
