One more question

Will you eventually HAVE to give credit card information to RC? One of my friends said there was a place to mark cash when she did her online check-in. She does not want to have to give them a credit card at all. What is the process? Does she go to the purser's desk when she gets on the ship and put down a certain amount of cash up front? Will they require a credit card number at any point?

Hi, you don't have to give RC your credit card information if you don't want to, but for me it was way easier and convenient with credit cards! When you checking in online,they will asked you to put in credit card infomation(the one you are going to use on the ship) and when you check in on the ship they'll ask you about that credit card.

Yes, she does go to the purser's desk on the ship when she wants to put cash on her seapass. If she spends more than she put on her seapass they will ask her to put more on and if she has some money left on the last day, she will have to go back there to take that money out, but they can have long lines. I think it's easier to use the credit card.

She can secure her on-board account with cash at the Purser's desk just like you said. She must have a fairly clear idea of how much she is going to spend. I think I would be more nervous about carrying that much cash than about providing a credit card number. Her liability is limited in case of fraudulent use; but if she loses the cash . . .

What about Travelers checks couldn't you just use those that way you don't have to worry about losing money because travelers checks can be replaced.

A friend went with us on Splendour OS in December and initially used a credit card to establish her sea pass account since she was unsure just how much she would spend. She used travelers checks to pay-as-she-went, plus some of her winnings from the casino. The last night she paid the rest of her bill with travelers checks and had nothing charged to her credit card.

Hi, i'm a first time cruiser, leaving on legends of the sea on march 17th. I have done my seapass information all online, and input a credit card. Can i use the credit card while i'm on the ship, and then at the end of my cruise before i leave the ship pay all my charges that are on my credit card bill in cash..so nothing goes on my card?

I love my RCCL VISA credit card, which I use to secure my seapass. I've had mine since 4/03 and am about to qualify for our second free cruise. I get double points for any RCCL purchases, including, bookings, tips, excursons, bar tabs, CORKAGE fees (!), and any other RCCL purchases. It is so convenient to not to deal with cash. Also, regarding the RCCL credit card, to really get a free cruise (what we do is upgrade and pay the difference between outside cabin and suite-it worked out to a $2500 credit on our upcoming cruise), you must pay off the balance each month and not pay ANY interest. It takes discipline, but it's well worth it to do so.
