We had a cruise all planned out for January 2008 on the Navigatior...I e-mailed all of our group with the price list and only to find out when I looked at the same cruise today that it went up around $90 (or more depending on the catagory). Since this is so far out, should I wait to book, hoping it will go down? Does anyone know the trends...Do the prices tend to go up and down with Gas prices?
Book it now. Prices may go higher and you'll be happy you did. If they do come down before your sail date you may be able to get some kind of a rebate. You don't pay the final payment until 70 days before the sail date.
Actually, at least according to a USA Today report, cruise prices are actually falling. It quotes David Brams, president of World Wide Cruises in Fort Lauderdale as saying that pricing for Caribbean cruises is down 10% to 15% from last year – and that the trend should continue through the summer of this year with prices being marked down 15% in some cases.
In planning my cruises for this year, I certainly found that to be the case. A two-week cruise from Miami to Barcelona was being sold for $799. several other posters have also reported great deals.
Now, that’s all good and well for general sailings, but it is entirely possible that special sailings, popular sailings, etc. might buck the trend. You may be facing such a situation…where heavy booking has prompted the Company to boost pricing.
I think most people will encourage you to book now to ensure that you get the category stateroom you want. And, as Sunny has intimated,if pricing later goes down, there is a reasonable chance that RCI will adjust your rate…if you ask. Just make sure you watch the rates.

I would appreciate your advise!
Contact a TA specializing in Cruises and have them set up group space for you. This way it locks the price in so when individual prices goes up yours are locked down. If you have at least 5 cabins sailing then defintely set up a group cruise.
Thanks for the advice--I just booked! Also, I asked if the prices do go down if there could be a price adjustment before the final balance is due--they said Absolutly--just have to keep checking on the prices and call RC if they go down!
Jodiroadie-We booked a cruise on the new Norwegian Gem in December 06 for a cruise in January 08 while we were aboard the Norwegian Dawn. Since that time, the price for the same category cabin has nearly doubled on that same cruise. If the new prices had been in effect when we booked we would not be going. So, with fuel and all other costs rising we advise booking as early and as far ahead as possible. Bon Voyage,
