I will be cruising on The Navigator in January! I'd be interested in knowing everyones opinion on the best excursions/things to do in Grand Cayman. I'd love to do a snorkle excursion, but I don't know if the water temp. is cold in January (I'm a bit of a whimp when it comes to cold!). I look forward to your experiences!

I'm sure 99% of the people will agree that the Stingray Island Tour is a must do in Grand Cayman. We book it on line with Captain Marvin's

Sonny is right. (don't you just love to hear that Sonny?!) We didn't do the Stingray Island Tour since we were with family who just wanted to go to the beach, but I've read so many reviews and suggestions about G.C. excursions and they all say that the SITour is the best. We went to G.C. last January and the water was very warm. I get cold easily if the water is too chilly and the water was fine for me.

Yes, Sonny is right as usual, don't miss Stingray City. I've been to Cayman several times and never miss doing this. It gets better every trip. A neat thing to do is stop by Hell, Grand Cayman and mail postcards home with the postmark from Hell. It is just a stop in the road but we have had fun with the postcards.

I have done the Sting Ray tour five times, and I feel like a little kid(SORTA) everytime. I also agree with the other posters to NOT book the cruise line excursion desk. Less money, more time with the stingrays, and I choose an excursion with a smaller boat and less people, more personal. Go to Grand Cayman port section or try the ones reccomended here.

I agree with Sonny again, and agree that Stingray City if a MUST see and do-however, I'm afraid I always book with the Cruise line-I'm sure it doesn't happen often, but if a private tour is late back to the ship, as Capt. Johnnie says, "you've just become a citizen of Grand Cayman" as the ship will NOT wait for you.
I believe that the ship will wait for you if one of their tours is late back to the ship. Am I correct on that one?

LOL....I love that threat they always use. Please believe me, I LOVE Royal Carribean and am truly loyal. But in this case, you can get a better deal and experience on your own. I always do tons of research, everyone here helps IMMENSELY !! If you want to do this on your own, take a morning excursion, and take your time getting back to the ship. NO WORRIES, you are on a cruise vacation....

Yes, on an excursion through the cruise line, they will wait on you. That is the benefit I guess of going through them and paying more. However, if you just do the 2 1/2 hour tour or even the half day one, you should have more than enough time to get back. Just make sure you leave on the early time and make sure they know that you are on a cruise ship and must be back.

The Stingray excursion is only 3-1/2 hours long. I never heard of anyone not making it back to the ship in time.

Sonny, I am thinking of booking Captain Marvins. We are scheduled to dock at 7AM. I wanted to do the early one, but it says must check-in at Waterfront Centre by 8AM. I thought that was cutting it close with tendering and walking etc. But, I just noticed it says they are on EST year-round. We will still be on DST when we are there. I am hoping this means 9AM for us? Just wondering if you know. It doesn't take much to confuse me with time changes.

Thanks,
Dwayne
