Empress to Bermuda in July - what if hurricane?

I know for Carib. cruises they can re-route around a storm but what about a cruise to Bermuda? Do they go north to Canada or something like that?

I believe this is why there is a law suit in New Jersey vs. RCI (see topic below). They re-routed a cruise from Bermuda to Canada without telling the passengers they were doing so until they were on board and ruined everyone's vacations, including that of a couple who were planning on getting married in Bermuda. The cruise contract says that, basically, they can do whatever they want to keep the ship/passengers out of danger, but this was pretty extreme. The moral is....bring layers just in case!

Going to Canada is a last resort. Typically, the Captain will maneuver the ship around the storm if he is able to do so. This happened to us last year. On the rare occasions that a hurricane is too large or too strong or the Bermuda authorities close the ports altogether, the ship will either go to several Canadian ports or spend the week at sea. As stated, these are rare occasions.

hey spending the week at sea is not so bad for me. I love the days at sea on the ship.

As a resident of Norfolk, am glad that RCI will start to leave out of here for Bermuda cruises. AS far as hurricanes go. Around here, most occur around late August and into September.[I have lived in Norfolk for 43 years]
