I'm new at cruising. We have a 14 year old and a 11 year old daughter. They would rather do things together, but the children's programs are scheduled that they would end up in two different age groups. Do those responsible for the children check ages or can they do some programs together?

The youth counselors know the names and ages of every child aboard, regardless of if they are enrolled in the program and they do enforce the age limits.

Another thing that may cause some grief for you (it used to for us) is that the 11 year old will have to wear a wrist band identifying her lifeboat station, while the 14 year old won't. There will be a youth counselor stationed at the entrance to the ship tagging the kids who are under 12.

Yes, that causes grief. My youngest is so happy now that she is 12 that she won't have to wear the braclet anymore. If they want to be able to do things together they may have to not go to the youth activites OR sometimes they will let an older sibling come to the younger's group activites, but that will depend on the crew.
