Hi i am going on cruise may 25th and docking at St Marteen. Does anyone know how far Orient Beach is from the ship and can we take a cab on our own to get there and back. Does anyone know how far it is and maybe even price. Is it safe to travel that far away by cab. I have never been to St Marteen before, Thanks for any information you can supply

Hi Roberto, it probably wasn't answered because people thought it was a roll-call. Orient Beach can be reached by taxi. St. Maarten is a very safe island. If you'll look through our Caribbean Port Chat section, you'll find lots of threads on this island. It's a little further down the page. We went to Orient Beach from the cruise pier in a van/taxi with a group of 8 others that we did not know, we were just all heading over there. We agreed amongst ourselves about how long everyone wanted to stay and our driver returned for us. One couple had opted to leave earlier and caught a different van. Had our van not returned for us there were others waiting around for fares back to the pier. This is something that is not hard or iffy to do on your own with no worries about taking up temporary residence on the island while your ship sails away.
