As I type this I am hoping that "this works" and I get to have a message posted. I have been fortunate enough to have enjoyed cruising for almost 15 years now; I have sailed on a total of 15 cruises in all. What a delight to find such an excellent forum for discussion and for having questions answered! Thank you to all!
Calling today to see about a short trip on the Sovereign of the Seas. We had been looking at either the Serenade or the Radiance to Alaska, but I must admit that we were intrigued by The Learning Channel's show on the refurbishment of the Sovereign, so that cruise will be first. (Brian and I often book at the last minute because of our work situation. We can only go whenever a lull in our work happens. We are not able to plan far ahead--there's always the risk of having to cancel.)
I have not been on the Sovereign since her refurbishment, but hear it is wonderful. Be sure to share your experiences with us when you get back. Also, if you haven't done RCI's Radiance class ships, you will absolutely love them.
I just got back from the SOS on June 10th. It looks like a brand new ship. We sailed to Coco Cay and Nassau. We had a wonderful time. Had a group of 14 people. There is a Johnny Rockets and a Ben and Jerry's ice ream on board. Cabins didn't get much of a refurb., but it seemed like almost of the public area's (bars, didning rooms, restaurants...) got face lifts. Even though its RCI's oldest ship, I would not hesitate to go again. We went sailed on it last October, 2004, and she looks 100 times better since the dr dock. I say go for it!!!
Well Everyone---This morning I did indeed book a cabin on the Sovereign for July 8th, which I am very much looking forward to.
I have to tell you though, that once Brian came home, and we finished making the air arrangements for Florida, he turned to me and said "So what are our dates for Alaska?" Happily shocked, I pulled myself together, and we made the phone call! We are booked on the July 31st sailing on the Serenade. This will be our third voyage on the Serenade but our first to Alaska.
