On the sign and sail card i want to give money to put on the card, I mean I don't drink so therefore what else is there to spend money on besides maybe the specialty resturants. Do you use that card for the shore activities? Am i missing anything else that one would spend money on while on a cruise when just about everything is included?

I used mine for everything. The specialty resturants, the gift shop, shore excursions and a few mixed drinks. The only time I used cash was to buy things on the islands and in the casino.

You can put a credit card to cover for your sail card and use the cash for buying souveneirs and tipping a little extra to your cabin steward and your waiter/waitress. Just make sure you keep up with how much you spend on the ship. It can sneek up on you.

The only problem with the travelers cheques is the local vendors only take cash. But if you were not planning on buying souveniers that won't be a problem. I don't think the taxi drivers or tour guides will take them either.

Spiritfilled,

You will be able to use traveler's check in airports and hotels, that is about it. In fact depending on your intinerary, you will have a very hard time using them in foreign ports. Plus your servers and cabin stewards will much rather have cash. I plan about $ 150.00 a day but that is highly subjective to the individual.

The ship also has a bank where you can get cash if you don't want to have to carry it.

What is your ship and itinerary again?

Don't forget Bingo! If you want to play that, the charge will go on the card/account also.

I have taken travelers checks before, and found they become a hassel. First you have to get them at the bank, then "sign" them, then "try" to find someone that will take them. What I do, is take "large" bills of cash as they don't take up much room. (I also put this in the safe when I'm not carrying it with me.) That way, you can always go to the Purser's desk and have it broken down to smaller bills.
