Big news - RCI has all but abandoned the port of Miami. Come 2011 only the aging Majesty Of The Seas will remain in Miami - and it only doing Bahamas runs. If you want to cruise on Royal Caribbean to the Caribbean you'll need to do so from Port Everglades, Port Canaveral, or Tampa. It is ironic that the cruise line's main office sits at the port of Miami. The line also returns to St. Croix.

I am so excited to see St. Croix back on the schedule. I hope it will stay there a while. It is very strange that they're bailing out of Miami. I guess it's easier to get in and out of Port Everglades now?

From what Jan has told me, FLL is getting very much crowded and extra time is needed there now. My sister lives in south Florida. She has given up on FLL and MIA and now flies out of PBI whenever possible.

Thanks for the link Dave. That is interesting that they're for the most part abandoning Miami considering that is where their offices are.

I didn't think FLL was that bad when I went on my last cruise in September of last year. Then again, my home airport is Newark Liberty International Airport, so I guess compared to Newark, I didn't think FLL was that bad.

FLL is a breeze compared to MIA...
Also seems strange that RCI is almost abandoning Miami....
Has Port Everglades taken over as the number one port yet?

The only problem I had with the terminal in Port Everglades, was that it took forever for the busses to get into...not much parking area unless you arrive by a car or van....Wonderful terminal once you get into it....Miami airport and port really needs a redo:-). Happy sailing to us all...

This is a bummer for me! Out of MSP we get better fares, availability of flights, more non-stops, etc. to MIA. I have taken a cab from MIA to Ft. Lauderdale and it adds up fast!

We felt Miami was a breeze when we cruised from her in Feb. 2010 and parking was great!!
