Hello,
this will be my first cruise and I am just not sure what is considered appropriate attire for the formal dinners. I know there are a lot of tuxedos, but for me- well I have two cocktail dresses (not formal enough?) and then I have two floor length sequin dresses (too formal?)...or should I go and get something in between???
Help please--

Wait for some more posts, but from everything I've read (my first cruise 9/21) any of them would be fine since attire ranges from cocktail dresses to fine gowns! I'd say save your money for the cruise - don't buy a new one, you don't need it!

I think you will be safe with any cocktail dress. You will see just about every fashion statement represented, so just wear what makes you feel good and happy and have a blast!

Hey guys, thanks for all the advice, I am leaning towards the whole cocktaile dress thing, but I will listen up if there are any other opinions! Thanks!
A white cocktail dress would be perfect (no black b/c I am sure most girls will dress up in black)

We just returned from a 2 week cruise on Celebrity Constellation. Anything is appropriate. There was even a gown with a trane to it. Actually, with our cruise in Europe, people seem to dress up more. Save your money for the cruise and wear what you have. Tux or dark suits for the men. Have fun!
Well, i just returned from my 7th cruise on celebrity's horizon on saturday. you can wear anything, but it is appropriate to dress up. Waiters wear tuxes w/ white gloves etc.. This last time both of my dresses were long (as they were the previous times).. the first was a black dress (it is true that alot of women wear black, especially on the last formal night... the first is slightly dressier due to the captains welcome aboard cocktail party) and it was spaghetti strap on the right shoulder and sleevless on the left. it also had a long slit in the left side wear up on the actual torso it was gathered. my other dress was a long beaded gown.. it was a mixture of shades of green, ranging from like a romain lettuce shade to a not quite lime.. it was strapless w/ a very small sweep train.. and the beading was denser at the top and grew sporadic as it went down the length of the dress. oh and the back was a lace up... i cant believe the compliments i got on it! especially when i was drinking my melon martini! lol.. i hope that helps... i always feel its better to dress up than down... the staff really appreciates it...
i just returned from 4 days on RCL/SOS(beautiful ship)! We had 1 formal nite and go with the cocktail dress and yes save ure money for the cruise, drinks, photographs, excursions etc. Have a super blast, we did and highly recommend it. it's the only way to vacation!
