going on the Independence April 3th. Whats the best beaches to go to with 3 kids? I would like to just catch a cab and spend the day at a beach. will there be cabs available and trustworthy? thanks Fred

Hi Fred, there are plenty cabs and it costs about 18 dollars to take you to just about any beach, i would advise in St Maarten just to get one near enough to the ship, most beaches are pretty much the same and no point being in a taxi for 40 minutes each way with three kids, we went to maho beach but it would not be suitable for three children as there is no shaded areas anywhere, its where the flights land its brilliant for us grown up kids!

there are information desks at every stop and they are very good to advise on the best place to go

Is the Sunset Bar still open at Maho Beach at St. Maarten?? I was thinking it'd be cool to hang out there for awhile watching the planes. Thanks, Lil' Lori

With kids I would…

St. Thomas – Magens Bay for $8/pp plus $5 entrance fee. Very calm and there are chairs, food and restrooms available.

St. Maarten – Downtown boardwalk for $6/pp roundtrip on the water taxi from the pier. There are numerous areas along the beach where you can get chairs and umbrellas by the water. Food and drink service is available and the water is very calm. This area is right along the shopping boardwalk if you would like to do some shopping. We also go to Orient Beach but the surf is much rougher and it is a little harder to get to.

St. Thomas - Coki Beach...great swimming and snorkeling.

Coki Beach looks great. We will have to check it out next time we're in St. Thomas.

I have to agree with Midwest Cruiser as we spent some time at Magen's Beach and it is so very calm and just relaxing..The boardwalk along the beach in StMarteen seems very nice and was not busy on our day there. Lots of places close by to grab something to snack on or drink.

If anyone is thinking about snorkeling, Magen's Bay isn't the place. I've been to all the beaches and don't think any of them is a bad choice. We all have our preferences.
