Can anyone tell me if the independence of the seas ship is mainly for families as my husband and I have two grownup children and would like to go on this ship without having to many children there(sorry if I have offended anyone but we have raised our own children and would now like to spend some time on our own) Can anyone tell us if this ship would be suitable.

I'm sure you'd have a nice time. The Indy is for everyone, not just families. I don't know the habits of families with younger children in the UK when it comes to holiday cruises. But the number of children aboard will follow along closely with school schedules. A good friend of mine lives in the UK and he and his wife had a nice cruise on the Independence - I think last year.

I think it would depend on what time of the year you take your cruise. When cruising while students are in school you'll see far less children on board.

Due to my wifes occupation, we are only able to cruise during school break times. Not once, can I say, have we really been overwhelmed by young ones. We do have 5 grandchildren so maybe we are less aware? Enjoy the cruise !

Not sure if this helps any.. My husband and I went on one cruise, But was Disney (my opinion more kid orientated)in May couple years ago. We had no issues with kids.. ONE time we were leaving our room going somewhere 2 teenage kids were running down hallway laughing...That was the worst thing we had to "deal" with.

I am not sure how RCCL does dinner, Disney gave us option to have "adult only table". Again not really sure if this helps, I was really worried abot samething when I went on cruise, and was quite shocked on little we saw kids.

My wife and I cruised on Indepenence of the Seas last year and again this year. Although there are a lot of children, they do not overrun the ship, and it is easy to find areas that are child free. There are a lot or organised activities for the children which keeps them tucked away. We are both retired and enjoy peace and quiet and will probably go on this ship again.

You have to appreciate just how big this ship is. There is plenty of room for all.
