I was just wondering how much cash do you think we should take with us?

How many days is your cruise and what do you plan to do are you a drinker so many things can determine this.

We are going on a 7 day, I'm not talking about on the ship I have a credit card for that. I want to know how much for tips off the ship and shopping on the islands. Just a round about number? Thanks

I don't know what to tell you for cash but I never seem to bring enough. You can always bring with you what you think you will need and you can get cash from the casino and they also have ATM machines on board.

I needed cash for the ports for food, transportation and shopping. I noticed that most places would prefer cash unless of course you are purchasing something that is expensive. I used a debit card which I will never do again. Most places were not happy with it and then it took over 1 1/2 months for the charges to go through, luckily I had money left in the account.

I usually budget $100/day per person in ports. This normally covers taxis, entrance fees, food/drink, tips, etc. We're not big shoppers, but normally will buy t-shirts. I take a credit card with me on shore, just in case. I do notify my credit card company that I am going to be in the Caribbean, so they will know that charges are ok. For gambling on board the ship I try to limit myself to $200/per night. For extra tips on board the ship we usually take about $50 in ones and get more change on board. We tip for room service and when drinks are ordered/served. At the end of the cruise those that we wish to tip extra, we get envelopes from the purser's desk. Normally, we have enough left over from the $200/day port money to cover these tips. Hope this helps some.

My fiance and I will take $1000 in cash for a 7-day cruise, but we almost always come back with at least half of that. Better safe than sorry.
