Splendour of the Seas-good/bad?

Hi all,

We were looking at taking the Golden Princess around the Med (with older in-laws and our kids)but now think that it may be too long-esp after adding a day in Rome before and a day in Venice after. I was looking into the shorter 7 day Splendour cruise (June, 06) but many of the reviews are really bad-food, service, ship, etc. Has anyone been on it recently? When was the last dry dock? My in-laws really want to see Athens and Ephesus. Thanks!

Hi Marianne,

I´m boarding the Splendour on saturday for the Transatlantic Tour. And I want to write a review, first in german and than trying to translate everything in english for cruisereviews.
But it might be half december, until I´m ready with the review. It´s the first time for me, to write it in another language.
So if you can wait with your decision, you´ll get detailed information. And I´m a critical person.

Marita and momofthree you are going to have a great time on Splendour.

There is a way to guarantee this. First and foremost, we can have a good time because we have decidedto have a good time. I've read most of the review out there in the web universe and many of the negative reviews tend to be as much based on a person's perception as anything else. There can be events that were less that perfect, but were great because we chose to make them great in spite of their short comings. There are other events that can be close to perfect, yet we are "disappointed" because we had prepared ourselves to be disappointed.

We are taking our four teenagers with us on the Splendour the week before Christmas and we have decided (yes all of us) that we are going to have a great time. The food will be fine (even if not perfect) and accomodations will be great. We might need to work on some problems if they come, but we WILL have a great time.

Lostcajun, I love your attitude! It is true that people tend to have the cruise that they want. A positive attitiude will go miles towards having a great time. I bow to you.

I`m having a very positive attitude. I know my husband and I deserve this cruise. I can´t wait until we are on the ship and we are prepared for the long days at sea. I see my in a deckchair with a plaid, when its cold, reading a good book, or talking to nice people from different countries.
And enjoying the dinner and the people who try everything to pamper us, because its our vacation and they want to please us.
I know that the ship has its wears and tears and therefore my expactions are not that high.

But I´m sure, we´ll have a great time and come back recovered and prepared again for our work at home.
