Does anyone know what the difference is between the balcony cabins Catagory E1 and D1. D1 is a little bigger but are there any other differences?

I have been reseaching this also, and what I believe to be true is that the D1 is for a quad whereas the E1 would be for a triple. I am planning an Explorer cruise for next year with two families involved.

Hi,
An E-1 average size is 173 sq ft. with a 47 sq ft. balcony. There are designated E-1 cabins that will accomodate a third person. A D-1 cabin average size is 202 sq ft. with a 50 sq ft. balcony. Again, there are certain D-1 cabins that can hold 4 people, not all of them. You have to ask for them. A quad has a pull down bunk hidden in the ceiling. You will find both E-1 and D-1 on decks 6,7,8,9, and 10 on the Voyager class ships. I booked a quad and a triple for my Dec. 9th cruise on the Voyager of the seas. We got the third and forth person for only $10 each. It was a special we couldn't pass up.

Wow that was a deal. I was on the AOS in Feb and Had a E1 Cat for a triple. As you said, the bed for my son pulled down from the ceiling. Next year I am planning a cruise out of NJ on the Explorer with another family who is a quad. However, pricing and cabin availability for D1 is not yet shown on RCCL site or even when I called them. So each day I keep looking. The trip is planned for next August. So Im sure in the next month or two they will provide availability.

Hi arckac,
I see your next two cruises aren't with Royal Caribbean. I was going to suggest booking future cruises while onboard a ship to cash in on the $100 onboard credit. As far as the deal I got, I wasn't onboard when I found out about it. I just cancelled a cruise I booked for February of 07 and used the onboard credit for the Dec. cruise. I just talked to my travel agent this morning and she told me she has 4 cabins left until June 1st. She is holding them as long as she can.
