I would like to hear from anyone who has gone on the refurbished Majesty of the Seas.
We just got back from the cruise yesterday (Feb 19 - 23). It was our first cruise so we don't have anything to compare it with - nonetheless we enjoyed her very much.
We tried most of the new venues :
Sorrentos - pizza was pretty good. They usually had 3 or 4 different flavors to choose from. No charge.
Johhny Rockets - food was okay, a more limited menu than most Johnny Rockets I have been to. Their redemption came in the form of entertainment - signing and dancing to the "oldies". $3.95 per person surcharge and extra $ for shakes and floats.
Freeze - ice cream was pretty good - but you pay for everything. Chocolate Mint ice cream with topping in a waffle cone was over $4.
Compass Deli - never made it during the limited (and I mean very limited ) hours they were open. (1130 a.m. to 4/5 pm on days we were in port). Of the 40 +/- people we hung out with no one got there while it was open.
Boleros night club was pretty good.
The spa area was nice - rooms and massage were good but the thin wall did not muffle the loud voice of the guest in the adjoining room getting her massage.
Casino area was very entertaining. They replaced the hold-em table with a virtual hold-em table the day we were in Miami loading. By the time they opened up at 6 pm the table was up and running. It was a little bit like internet hold-em mixed with live hold-em. Once you got comfortable with reading your cards from the table (small screen in lower corner) you had time to read your opponents for their "tell". One person had a pretty obvious tell and I was able to take that to the bank. (Hope she is on my next cruise as well).
If you have any questions about particulars try me and I'll get back to you.
Thanks vacation bound for your update! I'm excited as I'm going on the Majesty March 12.
Where on the ship did you stay - how did you find the new beds and linens?
Do they provide you with things such as shampoo, soap, etc in the washroom?
And finally, did you go to Paradise Island when you stopped in Nassau - how did you get there?
Let me know if you have any good tips or suggestions for shore excursions!
We stayed in romm 2540 lower level but had 2 pullman beds my son loved (changed beds every other night).
New beds were great.
As this was the first trip to Nassau and Atlantis was sold out (and Comfort Suites and Atlantis was not selling pool day passes) we skipped Atlantis and did a family tour of Nassau on foot.
We did the searay excursion on Nassau and enjoyed it very much.
We did the Parasailing on CocoCay and had a blast (paid through RCI $79 per person). I snorkled here as well as it was cool - saw a 3 foot baracauda and got 2 nice pictures of her.
Key West was supposed to be a relaxed day but had an irresistable offer of $85 for me and my son for parasailing and had a blast.
We went during school recess week and booked excursions ahead of time and paid for the security of having reservations. I would suggest if you are going during non-peak weeks (school recess) book your own excursions and save some $.
They provided soap bars as well as a shampoo dispenser in the shower. No fridge but we pre-ordered 1/2 case of Pepsi and 1/2 case diet Pepsi and a bottle of Spumante by "Just for You" and our cabinet attendant kindkly delivered a small fridge to keep items cooled. He was rewarded nicely .
