If it's feasible for you to handle your own luggage getting off the ship, that's the earliest you can depart. Speaking to the Guest Relations Desk will, hopefully, put you in the first group to leave of those who are letting Royal Caribbean handle their luggage, but that first group leaves after the self-disembarkers.

If possible, I would try to carry your own luggage off the ship and do express departure. When I did my cruise I had around I think an 11:00 or 11:30 flight, but my luggage would have been in the last group around 9:30, and decided that would be way too close, so I did express departure and went smoothly for the most part. However, in the future, I probably would not book that early flight even if it means sitting in the airport for awhile. I would just make sure I have a book and my ipod with me.

Did you make it to the airport in enough time when you carried your own luggage off the ship? I am nervous and wish I did not make it for so early but unable to change it now without a very hefty charge added on....what to do...what to do.....

Relax! If RCCL can guarantee making a 11:00am departureódo you think 15 minutes earlier will make a big difference? When you talk to guest realations you'll feel much better about this. I would bet that you'll be in the airport by 9:00am.

When I carried my luggage of the ship, I believe I was at the airport by 8:30 - 9:00, or somewhere around there, I'm not too sure. One thing here is that they deboard (with the exception of express departure), from the top deck down, so depending on what deck you're on depends on what color tags you get. They will have a video the night before explaining everything.

What deck you're on has no bearing on the color of your tags or when you disembark. You can let your cabin steward you need to leave early and you should have the appropriate tags delivered to your room. If you're going to carry your luggage off the ship you won't need tags. If we have time, I like to go to the dining room for breakfast on the morning of disembarkation.

Express departure or self-disembarkation are interchangeable terms meaning you carry all your own luggage off the ship in the first group to leave the ship.

Don't worry about your deck. We always have one of the first three colors no matter what deck we are on, usually without having to ask (you get a form and indicate your flight time on it). Once we got tags for "too late" and just exchanged them.
