I think it's the ship Seranada of the Seas, but don't quote me on that. There's a series of shows about it on TLC. It's going through dry-dock and they are adding cabins, changing out carpet. Several fires have been started by the people doing the work...it's fascinating. I was just wondering if this was a repeat, or what you all think. It's just fascinatin'
The ship is the Sovereign of the Seas and you're right, Lady, it's a very interesting documentary. I believe there are several more episodes coming up next week on TLC.
I just watched the whole series (5 episodes) and it was truly interesting. I cannot believe they got the renovations done that quickly.
It's intrigued me so much that I am going to plan a voyage on that ship to check out the various improvements compared to the age of the ship. It will be like meeting a celebrity, lol.

Kate,
I found the series quite interesting also - it gave me a whole new appreciation for how much hard work (and danger) is involved in preparing these vessels for passengers. I couldn't believe they accomplished such a monumental task in such a short time.
Like you, it has tempted me to cruise her - just to see the finished product first-hand.
Can you believe that we taped all the shows except for the last one the TAPE RAN OUT! so someone said that it will also air on the Travel channel so guess we will have to wait to see the finished product. If anyone knows when it will air on the travel channel please post the date and time. Thanks
What I find amazing is the turn around when a ship comes back to port. The passengers disembark in the first part of the morning, the entire ship is cleaned and restocked for another week long cruise and the new passengers are boarded. Then the ship leaves that evening. Amazing.
I totally agree with you. When I talk with crewmembers they really dislike turn-around days. They not only have to do their normal workload, but they are carrying luggage, cleaning and doing myriad things to accommodate the new passengers. To make matters worse, the first day is usually when passengers complain the most and are simply exhausted from traveling.

The five shows will be repeated on the Travel Channel during August.
