What time can I board the ship in San Juan? It departs at 10pm and I was told by Royal Caribbean that 4pm is the boarding time, but I thought you could board earlier? Please let me know. (first time on Royal Caribbean)
I have known a number of people who have boarded by noon in San Juan. The cruise lines boarding time of 4PM is done so that if there are any complications, they are safe guaranteeing passengers can board by then. That way, if you arrive at the port at noon expecting to board, but the ship is not ready - you can't be upset because they indicated 4PM as the boarding time.

I agree with Nancy. I would plan on arriving early. The worse case scenario is that you would check your bags and then wander in to San Juan for the afternoon. How bad could it be?
Thank you for your responses. If I am not able to board until 4pm, will the ship allow me to check in my luggage? If not, is there a place to store my luggage so I can walk around the city? Thanks!
You will be able to check your luggage with the cruise port porters and then make your way to the BayShore Shopping Center to hang out for whatever time. There are a ton of shops, restaurants, bars, etc., there to keep you entertained for hours. There is also a tram that can take you to nearby hotels and such. Enjoy!
