As a non smoker I am totally and utterly against smoking in bars etc, I think I read somewhere that since this January 2008 there is no smoking in bars and casinos onboard RCCL -
Dont think thats fair, here in Ireland we have had a no smoking policy in all public places and it has worked out fantastic, both smokers and non smokers find that it is much better, are you sure that there is no new law stating that smoking is only permittable on balconies and outside?
Also if I want to use the casino I dont think I should have to inhale smoke from someone else.
I'm not a smoker, but I'm sure people who ARE smokers would think its unfair to not be allowed a place to smoke when onboard a cruise for multiple days at a time too.
I don't like the smell either, but it really turned out to not be an issue since so many places on the ship were non-smoking areas.
Smokers have designated areas for smoking in lounges and open air decks on one side of the ship. There is one bar that is designated for just non-smokers. For those that fail to obey the no smoking policy in cabins, a $250 cleaning fee could be added to their account.
I'm all for non smoking cruises but it's doubtful if they'll ever be another Paradise. The cruise ships are in business & it would be cut throat to eliminated all smoking so limited smoking in bars & casino's about the best we can hope for.
Let 'em know your feelings on the comment cards & who knows, it might actually help the situation someday.
I'd never deprive someone of the right to smoke but its my right to be in a healthy environment, and I believe if smokers want to smoke there should be a place for them.
I know and would never expect non smoking cruises although having said that Id be first on!!!
