I am back and still exhausted ! The Yankee Trader was better than described on many boards, great location, great service. It is ACROSS from the beach but a handy pedestrian overpass right at the hotel. Ate at Shula's, and yes it is expensive, but a fine dining experience...mmmm...filet mignon.....mmmm

The Yankee Trader has it's own kinda taxi service, no shuttle, but a very nice town car or large SUV and a welcome upgrade from the taxis. Seriously only about $5 more from hotel to ship.

The Enchantment was a delight again, I had scored an handicapped access balcony cabin, this was my mother's first cruise at 81, and she needs help getting sround...but didn't miss a thing. It was such a hoot at Christmas dinner listening to her reccollections of the cruise. Who knew the high kicking dancing boys, and the wild Quest game, would be so high on her list ?? Did I mention we were 5 minutes late for dinner the last night, because she wanted a spray-on Tattoo of an anchor to go home with and show the family ??? And Sonny, I sent your best to "Denzel" in the concierge lounge, he is a delight. There were 600 children on this pre-Christmas cruise, just wish SuperNanny had travelled with some parents, but on the whole it was sweet to see whole families, many generations of, together for the holidays. Our ship left about an hour late, I think to wait for some passengers. Our stop on CocoCay was beautiful weather, but then cut short beacuse of changing seas ?? They brought everyone back on board about two hours early, and refunded all excursions for the afternoon. Key West required an immigration drill, because we had just been to the Bahamas, and we lined up to walk through the appropiate showroom, get a punch in our sea pass card and off the ship just before 10am. There my mother's only son, my baby brother was there to meet us for a whirlwind day of visiting, shopping, drinking. (My brother has lived in Key West since 2001.) My darling mother put a bow on her forhead, and presented herself to bro as "his favorite Christmas Present!" We had a relaxing day at sea on Sunday, and into port before 5 am....as a diamond member we had priority disembarking, and off the ship around 8 am. We were actually at the airport, and at the gate before the doors closed for the 9:15am flight, but it was full, and we waited for our 11:00am departure. With peir assist wheelchairs, and NWA wheelchair assist....this was quite a feat.
I wouldn't have traded this special time with my mother for anything, she pronounced herself "very surprised" how much she enjoyed her first cruise vacation.....and we made alot of noise yesterday about a family cruise vacation of our own !!
Thanks for all your help, and well wishes, and I would be happy to answer any questions....

Welcome home. We just got back too and it is weird stepping right into Christmas. I've got to go fold laundry!

Glad your mom had such a good time. We have never done anything other than hubby and kids but I think a family or friend cruise would be nice.

Welcome back Queen, and Shelby! Queen, it sounds like you mother had a great time. I've thought about taking my mother on a cruise, but she will be 106 in June; getting a little old for cruising.

Sonny

With 600 kids aboard its the main reason that we don't cruise at Christmas no matter how nice a time of year.

I have to admit Rich, I choose my cruises carefully, but this one was priced so well, I knew what I would be getting....my mother was amused by most of the children, and mortified by others. Just like going to a local mall really. I was very impressed to hear one young man, about 14, tell his friends his sea pass card was not activated, he needed permission to buy something !
