New Cruiser: Alcohol/Drink Cards

Hi everyone,

We are thinking about cruising and wanted to know about the drink cards. I read information about the soda packages, but cannot find information/prices on the alcohol (adult drinks!) cards. What is the price? Is it worth the price?

busy girl-Let me first begin by welcoming you to cruise-chat! This is a wonderful place to visit and share all things cruise related and other thoughts! We learn from each other here,save each other from the landlubbers and are able to be at sea in our hopes and dreams even while sitting at home! If you can't be at sea-come visit us here-it will ease the pain!

I have never been on a ship where alchohol drink cards were offered. Usually I travel on the mainstream cruiselines (RCCL,NCL,Carnival), but I have done Cunard,Chandris and others too! Soda cards are a good idea,especially if you have children or are a soda addict. Certain cruise lines (i.e. Carnival) offer alchohol drink coupons thru their web site or cruise amenities office in advance of the cruise. However-if the drink is a specialty drink or a drink other than from the bartender's "well" (i.e. his basic liquor stock ) the additional fee will be charged to your ship charge card.

I hope this answers your question and I wish I were incorrect but for most of us-we still have to pay for our drinks on a per cocktail basis!

Hello busy girl, welcome to Cruise-Chat! The soda cards are $6 per day per person, and you have to buy them on the first day for the entire cruise. There are no alcohol cards, sorry about that. You may be thinking of a seapass card, which you use to purchase everything while on the ship. Let us know if you stop thinking about cruising and book a cruise. Like all of us, you'll find that a cruise is the best vacation you'll ever experience.

Holland America has a "Signature Cocktail Card for 10 signature cocktails" on their gift list. You should check with the cruise line to see if they have something similar on their gift list - and if so, order for yourself. The gift will be waiting for you in your cabin..... HAL's is 64.69 (ie $6.50 per cocktail)

I checked on RC and they only offer the soft drink card and wine package where you can have a different bottle of wine each nite with your dinner,you can find that on their websitee
