I am trying to get information regarding internet access on the Sovereign of the Seas. I saw somewhere that various packages are available and that wireless is also an option. Does anyone know the details? If I bring my own laptop, does that mean I can use it throughout the ship or do I need to use their own machines? Could I use my own zip drive to plug into their computers instead of bringing my laptop? Thanks for any information available.

You can use your own laptop and wireless card. The Sovereign is not set up for shipwide wi-fi so you are limited to the internet cafe and business center and some adjacent areas in the Centrum. Internet is 50 cents per minute, or you can get a package of minutes which lowers the minute price. I forget the costs of the packages but I usually get the one with the most minutes. Bear in mind that shipboard internet is not especially fast. You are using a satellite link and my experience has been that it isn't that much quicker than a modem connection, although there are occasional bursts of speed.

HI, Does it work the same way on board? Just as long as you have your password and access to your account. I have high speed (Cox) does it matter? Thanks

You are using the ship's internet account first, then you can log onto your personal internet account (s). As I recall, my e-mail program downloaded all my waiting messages which was nice because I could read and answer them offline and not burn through all my shipboard internet minutes.

Thanks for the tips Dave, I can work offline on my email and then send. I have a laptop but it is OLD AND SLOW...lol! So I think that I will use the ships computer to email back and forth to family. Buying the minutes ahead seems like a better idea also!
