lunch seating question

On Carnival if you go to lunch in the dining room you get group sat at the next seat in line. My wife and I don't enjoy this. We feel we can't talk, enjoy our food, etc. We find we just rush through lunch, try some small talk with people we don't intend to know, and hurry out. Not that we are anti-social, but it’s just not fun.

On RCCL do they have seating at your table, or is it being grouped like Carnival?

Nearly all cruise lines do not give you your assigned dinner table at lunch. But, you can certainly ask to sit alone rather than with a group of strangers. You might have to wait a bit, but it can be done.

With RCCL, you get seated with people at the next available table. I look forward to meeting as many people as I can on a cruise...not that I'm overly social, or anything.

I love sitting with new people - (I'm a people person) - We still keep in touch with friends with have met from our cruises. I think this is a great way to learn about people. (There are some you don't like) - We went to a midnight buffet once - stayed there to about 2:30 -3 o'clock talking and having a great time.

Sure you run into your types who provide as much conversation as a doorknob or those who are so full of themselves you can't get in a word. But most cruisers are interesting, educated and they have worked themselves up to be relaxed and carefree on their cruise like anyone else.

I thrive on human interaction and 95% of the people you meet in the breakfast and lunch situation in the dining rooms are fun and interesting. Heck everyone else who wants to sit at a table alone with a 4" high pile of bacon, can belly-up to the buffet and stare at the ocean all they want.

RCCL will accomidate to ANY needs you need... some cost...some waste time.... And some you really dont need. I have cruised before and found RCL people a lot more happy with their cruise!

So.. Yes, you can request that..... its a time waster though.

We enjoy meeting people as much as the next person, but sometimes a nice lunch and bottle of wine would be nice. Not something we want to crowd into a group of 8 who all have different agendas.

I remember as a kid in the 80's we sat at our table with our waiter for all meals. At least days at sea I believe.

I am not going to ask for something different and be the only ones sitting in a corner either.
