On Royal Caribbean the drinking age is two-fold. To drink hard liquor you must be 21, but young adults 18 -20 can drink beer and wine onboard, if parents sign for permission.

you will be able to have beer and wine... but if you find someone who is nice they will hook you up with anything you want for the price of a beer. my boyfriend constantly had hard drinks, and he was 19. no one had tosign for him either

Does RCCL consider champagne wine, and would it therefore be fair game for someone 18+? I can't imagine why not, but one never knows...
My 19 year old daughter cruised with us last year on RCL. We never signed anything, but she was never asked for an ID the entire week. Come to think of it, I found out later my 17 year old daughter was served drinks as well.
RC's official policy is that 18-20 yr olds can drink, if parents sign a release allowing them to be served beer and wine. Then their sail and sign card is given the designation. However, I do know that just as some of you have discovered, before my daughter turned 21 the bartenders in most venues served her without hesitation. It's the difference between company policy and reality once you are onboard.

Thank you so much everyone for your reply's!! It is greatly appreciated. I am sure I will have fun either way with or without the alcohol even though it sounds like I will be able to have some.
I will not be going on this cruise with my parents, I will be going with my 22 year old boyfriend so I won't be able to get my parents to sign a permission slip to drink beer or wine but hopefully the bar tenders will not ask.
Is there age limits anywhere else on the ship? the casino?? If so what is the age?
