Hi Again: Can you tell that cruise time is getting closer...I have, in the past, rented a tux from a co. in Miami and not encountered any problems. I heard that RCL (Explorer) has tuxs for rent on board. Anyone have a comments with regard to on board or on shore rental?
Thanks in advance for input.
JC Penney now has men's formal wear. For the cost of renting a tux you can own one. The quality is good for a tux that you are only going to wear two or three times a year. We each have two different styles. The tux coats are sold seperately from the slacks so sizing is not an issue.
SonnyV would be best advise on this, but I think all ships have tux rentals available. Princess does, and I believe it was $75. Hope this helps a little.
Hi peter l; the advantage I see in an onboard tux rental is not having to pack the darn thing. But you have to get the order form in with your measurments in plenty of time.
But I really like Lucas' suggestion; if you think you might wear it a couple of time a year--buy one! For not much more than the cost of one rental you can own one. For savings like that I wouldn't mind packing it. In fact I've never worn a tux but now I'm seriously considering it.
We rent tuxes for my husband from cruiselineformal.com. It is so convenient for us. It is true that it would be cheaper to buy a tux, but we do it for the convenience of not having to pack dress shoes, tux, etc. It's a $100 splurge, I know! But it's worth it to us.
You have to decide what is most important to you; the convenience of not having to pack the tux, or the cost of the rental. It's all on you at this point. Weigh the advantages versus the disadvantages.
Thanks everyone for the speedy replies and choices. I have rented in the past from Cruiselineformal.com but wasn't sure if they had them available on board RCL or their cost. If I pack a dark suit, it would be the first time rather than wearing a tux...Your right, my wife gets two suitcases and I have to get a weeks worth of Tivas and shorts in the carry on.
My travel package for an April cruise lists rental fees for a black tux at $95 - which includes shirt, cumberbund, bow tie, cuff links and studs (sorry ladies - not that kind). Shoes are $12 and socks are $6. But if you need to rent socks you should probably be looking at a Disney cruise.
I wore my suit for the formal nights. I don't have a tux, and i don't need one. I had plenty of suits in the closet for work purposes so picked on and packed it. the only thing you need to do after that is mix and match the shirt and tie.
