Hi,All!
I will be taking my very first cruise with Royal Caribbean (Explorer of the Seas) June 2009. Up until now, I have cruised with Carnival. I love Carnival but "variety is the spice of life."

Carnival has their signature dessert called "chocolate melting cake." I'm sure you have all heard about it. It's delicious.

My question is does Royal Caribbean have their own "signature" dessert? Or is there a dessert that is to die for?

My wife's favorite is "warm chocolate cake" ....sounds alot like what you are describing on Carnival. It is pretty good!

I don't recall any dessert that was identified as "RCI's". However I do like their creme brulee and the sugar-free coconut layer cake was outstanding on my last two RCI cruises. They offer several sugar-free desserts which are good. Sometimes you can find the pastry swan filled with sugar-free vanilla creme. That is good too. It wasn't on the menu on our cruise aboard the Liberty Of The Seas but a woman at our table asked for it on the first night and she got it every night after that. I know that item is more identified with Celebrity, but RCI will make it sometimes.

rci has a "royal Chocolate cake" it is a flourless truffle type cake that they have every year, also some sort of rum cake. These are served on I believe the second formal nite. I would guess RCI would consider them "signature desserts"

The vanilla ice cream on the Explorer of the Seas was excellent!! Not a "signature" dessert maybe, but worth a try. Then of course, maybe ice cream is not the same brand on all ships.

The reason I thought the warm chocolate cake may be similar is because it is a very warm cake like outside and a chocolate pudding inside.....just a thought. It's awesome.......especially if you also get ice cream with it
