Don't do that! You can arrange for a wake-up call if needed.

Better than that, hang the card on your door with your coffee, juice and danish order for the time you want to get up and in the morning, you'll hear a rap on your door followed by a pleasant, "Good morning, where can I put this for you?" A very civilized way to start the day.

One thing about an alarm clock is you can see what time it is. When I wake up in the middle of night I like to know how much more sleep I can get. I don't know if I really want to wake up hearing a strange voice saying "Good morning, where can I put this for you?"

I always have a watch with a backlight next to the bed. Actually, in keeping with my technical background this has been a Casio Databank calculator watch for the past 20 years more or less. If I need to know the time I just push the light button on the watch. And, if I need to perform a quick calculation in some foreign port, I can do it.

I use my cell phone as an alarm clock or for telling the time during the night. Just leave it on the nightstand next to the bed if I wake up I just open and close the phone and the light comes on with the time. It is also a great alarm. I do not use it for making calls on the ship, but do have it incase we are in ports like St Thomas or San Juan that are US territories, no extra charge with Cingular for using it.

take a clock. there are no clocks in the rooms. there will be less fumbling around trying to see what time it is. also take a power strip with you. not alot of outlets in your cabin.

Carol, my cell phone never works in a cruise ship cabin. Maybe it's the service I use (Verizon) but it always says, "no service" and even the clock on my phone doesn't work.
