Any towels?

As we are having to pack dinner suits and formal dresses (with matching shoes & handbags!!) space in the suitcase is going to be tight, do they supply towels by the pool or do we need to take our own beach towels?

Beach towels are supplied.

I'm going on a short (four night) cruise on October 1, and it states that there will be one formal night. You may be able to eat at one of the less formal restaurants on the ship if you don't want to pack suits and cocktail dresses.

Just an added note about the towels. You will have beach towels in your room and you are allowed to take them off the ship. So if you are going on a water or beach excursion you can take them with you. Just leave them on the floor at night before dinner and the cabin attendant will replace them with fresh beach towel for the next day. You can also exchange them by the pool. No need to save space for your own beach towels. Save that for clothes!

Does the supply of towels apply to all RC ships on any cruise?

Yep all ships supply towels, but dont loose them because you will find a hefty charge on your on board account for around $22.00 each.
