It can also depend on the ship/itinerary.. a longer European itinerary is going to attract a "dressier crowd"... a shorty cruise to the Bahamas attracts a younger, more casual crowd. Longer cruises (over 7 days) generally mean an older, more formal crowd.
On the Explorer in September for a 7 day cruise, I would say it was 40% tux, 40% dark suit, and 20% everything else...
