This is my first time posting to this board. I have spent months looking through all of the advice in order to decide the best cruise to take with my husband and our friends. This has been so helpful. We are going on vacation for the first time with out the kids (this will be our fist big trip since our honeymoon 13 years ago without children) We are booked on deck 10 room 1288. Our friends are right by the elevators down towards the back of the ship about 20 rooms (is that aft?). Both of these are Balcony rooms, so we are looking forward to sunrises in the morning.

Today I was so excited when I realized we only have 19 more days until we leave for Miami. I have been on one cruise (Carnival)15 years ago, but it will be my husbands and the other couples first time. We can't wait!! Although the next 19 days are going to be crazy as I get all the precruise preparations for us as well as the kids details ready for Grandma to watch. She is flying from California to South Carolina to watch them for the week. Yeah MOM!! I will be so excited to get on the ship and veg out the first day (if that is possible with all there will be to do).

Does anyone know if there was any damage to RCI's stop in Labadee from huricane Dean. We are leaving for our cruise on FOS September 16th and have signed up to do the zip line. We were really looking forward to it, and would be bummed if it was shut down due to damage. I was also wondering how much damage the happened on the island on the news they said that Haiti was getting hammered, but I haven't heard anything since it passed and moved on.

I guess I should have looked down before asking about the damage to Labadee. I saw after I posted Dave's response regarding the hurricane damage to the western caribbean stops.

Welcome to cruise-chat Mrs. C. Glad to have you aboard, it doesnt matter if its your first cruise or your 20th cruise I dont think you ever get over the excitement of going.

By the way, you stated you live in SC, where? I live in Marion, and Dwayne (IslandCruz) is in North Myrtle Beach.

Have a great cruise...only 18 more days now..I know the feeling, I am leaving in 17 more days for a 7 night on the Glory our of Port Canaveral, and will be home approximatlly 20 days when we fly back to Miami for another cruise.

Yes, I agree anytime you are going on vacation it is exciting...there is just somthing about taking a cruise that seems extra special.

My husband hasn't even gone yet and we are already feeling addicted and want to start planning our next trip this time with our kids.

We live in Fort Mill South Carolina right over the board from Charlotte. We spent our summer vacation in Myrtle Beach this year. The kids had a blast. My husband and I grew up close to the beach in California, so it is a little different for us going to the Atlantic ocean vs. the pacific, but anytime we can go to the beach it is fun.

Mrs. C My family just got off the Mariner of Seas this past Sunday, there was no evidence of damage anywhere on our stops! I did the Zip Line with my 12 year old son and it was great! Take a small camera with a wristband cuz you zip down right in front of the beach but the best picture will be standing on the platform overlooking the island. Have a great cruise Fred

Thanks for the update. We are really excited to try it out. I am going to have our friend go down with his video camera so our kids can see what we did.

It won't be long now!!

Mrs. C Make sure your video camera has a wrist band, cuz they will not let you put any type of camera around your neck for safety reasons. At the end you will have to have both hands on the bar when you hit the brake! Enjoy your cruise Fred
