Voucher vs. Taxi-What did you choose?

We have always had RC provide the transportation from the airport to the port. This year I am going with friends who prefer to take a taxi together (have successfully used this transportation in the past). Have you used the taxi for transportation from Miami airport to the port, what did it cost one way, and would you use this method again? Thank you!

We have used the taxi in the past but from now on will ALWAYS use the voucher to the pier. You can get on the bus and relax knowing that if it breaks down enroute....the ship will wait. Not so with a taxi and the last time (November) we took a taxi and they dropped a whole group before taking us to the pier. Take the voucher...cheaper by far and easier on the worry factor.

We decided to have an "adventure" & took the plain ole Miami public metro bus for $0.50. You have to get off at the Justice complex & walk 1 block to tourist shuttle for another $1. It was fun & funny but we had about 5 hours to go approx 13 miles.

Taxis are fine / convenient.

If you will be renting a car at anytime while you are in Miami some of the rental car buses will take you to the pier for "free".

We have used both vouchers and taxis...I prefer taking a taxi because you usually have to wait until the cruise line fills the bus. The taxis are all over the place and ready to go. If you are sailing out of Miami another option is the Super Shuttle...they are blue vans and are readily available. Hope this helps.

Another possibility is a rental car. If you have enough (I always go a day early so we rent a car to get around) it might be worth it. In the state of Fl. almost all car rental companies have no drop off fee and most have agencies at the port. Don't know the cost of a taxi, shuttle, or voucher, but it may be just as cost effective to rent a car. Just another possibility.
