Anyone out there? Our second cruise on the Grandeur... we live between Balt/Wash and the port is practically outside our back door! Our first cruise was to Western Caribbean... we were amazed at the wonderful service, delightful and considerate crew and yes, the Cruise Director was CRAZY! Let us know if your cruisin' with us.
rednlaurel, Hello and welcome to cruise chat! That is a tempting cruise for me. We sailed Grandeur out of New Orleans in 2003 and loved the ship and her staff.
Hey Chef (first names are okay, right?) We couldn't resist the price... first booked SENIOR rate Q guaranteed stateroom for $699... checked today and oceanview was 799... a no brainer for us... I've just turned 60 and my two daughters are educated and making tons more money than I ever will... my cruisemate is Pat (a youngster at 50) and her two sons are very concerned about her spending their inheritance.
What a deal... less than $100 a day for all the food, lodging, entertainment, sites, and of course, good company a person could want! The ports on this cruise are very "visitor friendly"... even able to walk to important places... and the 'trolleys' are more than reasonable. Come on... would love to have you join us! We plan to keep checking for price breaks and maybe we'll get one of those balconys everyone talks about!
Canada/New England is my favorite destination...I'm happy to answer any questions you have on the ports, if needed. Congratulations on the amazing rate!
Just a tidbit of info. We just returned from a week on the Grandeur. She's going into drydock in two weeks to be updated -- then off to the east coast. The crew, shows, food are all fabulous! Wish I could join all of you in Maryland. It was my first cruise and I'm sold that cruisin is the way to go! Enjoy!
Hello and welcome to cruise chat! Grandeur was our first cruise and it will always be special even though we have gone on bigger ships with more amenities.
The word was they are updating her -- ie: new mattresses -bedding--hopefully a full facelift. Such as carpet - some furniture. They were refinishing railings at sea.
