We are leaving on the Explorer Dec. 20th for a western cruise. We are in cabin #8611 overlooking the atrium or shops. If we would want to upgrade, what is a better room and how do you go about getting it? Do they do any free up-grades?

Ran across a post you made regarding upgrade of an atrium cabin on Explorer of the Sea. May wife and I are booked on an Eastern Caribbean trip in Feb. 2004 maybe in the same cabin you had or close (We have forgotten the exact number). Did you upgrade; if not how was that cabin. This is our first ever cruise so we are interested in the cabins and any other advice you can offer. Any info e-mail to smh@indres.com

Thanks in advance for your help!

We stayed in #8611. It overlooked the shops and we were the end room. Very convienent for the elevators and stairs. We felt we were in a very good location. The buffet was up on the 11th at our end and also the main dining rooms were right down below. Sometimes the 4 kids came in, (15 - 29) and we all made alot of noise. There were no complaints and we also didn't hear any noise from anywhere else. I, myself would book this room again. The kids were in 3250 and they said it rocked. I slept like a baby every night. Good luck with your decision and if you have any more questions I can help you with, go for it.
