It's customary for most ports to tip $1. per bag. I understand in some areas where the cost of living is higher like NYC and LA you should double that.

Sonny beat me responding, I'd take his advice on this.

Back to the luggage tag issue. If you ever get eDocs with those printable paper tags either go to the trouble and expense of laminating them or throw them away. If you staple them on of afix them in any other way where they can easily be torn off they will be. You may see your luggage by the 3rd or 4th night if you're lucky.

Cheers, Neil

On our return to Port of Los Angeles, the porter helped us find a bag that was not with the others (usually they are all pretty much together), shepherded us through customs, and found us a shady spot to sit while we waited for our son--and showed us where coffee and restrooms rooms were; easily worth a $20.

Good service should always be rewarded with a solid tip. Well done, Rick.

Conversely, poor or indifferent service should not be rewarded; rewarding medicrity breeds medicrity.

I always go with at least two bucks per bag tip.

As for the printable tags - that is really stupid of the cruise line, to think tags printed by someone at home would hold up during all the transferring and handling.

You're right about the tags printed at home. There's no way plain paper would ever stay on your luggage.
