And yes, it is now more restrictive than before. In fact it seems RCI has followed along with NCL's new policy - you have 48 hours after making a deposited booking to find a lower price that has many restrictions. The old policy allowed changes as late as 3 days before the cruise.

According to what I can glean, once the 48 hours has past, you are locked into whatever price you booked - even if it decreases later on. I need to get more verification though.

This is for cruises booked that are already in penalty period. For cruises outside penalty, they can be canceled and rebooked at the lower rate if they meet all the criteria.

Thanks for the clarification. It is quite frustrating that RCI can't seem to fully explain things when they roll them out. Instead they let brush fires break out all over the internet.

This new policy also holds true for Azamara Club and Celebrity.

However, I also think this will shorten the booking window for them.

I am putting a deposit down next week for a cruise in July 2011 (departing July 4th..I believe 4 day cruise) through RC. I already did a post on this earlier..It is an anniversary present for my husband. After I paid the deposit and starting paying it off IF something happens or I wanted to change cruise date from July to August when is latest I can do it?

RC told be July 4th cruise had to be paid in full by 1st week in May 2011 (I believe May 5th). I don't plan on changing date but MAY find better deal in August (his birthday is middle of August)

You can make any changes up to final payment without penalties.
