The other problem with smokers, is they don't seem to care about non-smoking rules anyways, and they always seem to litter whereever they happen to be with their butts! The cruise lines can ban smoking in the rooms and balconies, but they will still do it.

Whats the difference between me throwing paper out the window of my car, or dropping it in the gutter, or a smoker doing the same with a cigarette butt? None, they are both littering, and only one comes with a ticket, as far as I know.

I hate when people are like that. I do smoke but i'm always considerate twords non smokers. Just because I have a bad habit doesn't mean others should have to deal with it. And I hate people that litter. So annoying! My dad smokes too and he's the same as me. We don't plan on smoking in the rooms either. Just had to comment... us smokers aren't all bad!

Thats not the point. The point is, as a society, we seem to ignore cigarette butts being thrown around like litter, but without the consequences.

Well...Throwing butts is obviously a big deal now, as "newsflash" tonight (March 26) is the Star Princess just caught on fire with the suspitions of someone throwing a butt off their balcony.
IMHO...NO smoking on balcony or near public deck railing. ONLY in supervised common area or lounge or casino.

I have seel guys throwing off there butts from the pooldeck into the sea; the wind brought the butt back... Maybe it was the same way on board the Star Princess. Smoking or nor smoking depends on the ship. There is often a strict no-smoking-zone in all restaurants and in zhe staterooms too. But there are some smoking-zones in the bars.
I had smoked about 100 cigarettes a day - nowadays I don´t need it any more. Try it.
