San Juan , what to do before boarding ?

Hi all , we are cruising from San Juan on the Adventure . I noticed the ship departs at 8:30pm . We will be arriving at 11:15 am same day. Will we be able to do some sightseeing or will the shuttle take us directly to the port?

If you are using the RCI shuttle transportation they will take you directly to the port. Once you check-in for your cruise you are free to leave the ship and go exploring.

well I can only say that you are cutting the time too close
If you are traveling the same day remember that any problem that can happen, if you are not with the cruiseline RCCL, you are on your own. San Juan attractions mostly opens until 5 pm so maybe you can call for a taxi and see "el morro" or just a quick view of old San Juan.

El Morrow for sure...It's not a bad walk and only a $4-$5 cab ride.....It's $3 to $5 entrance fee....but well worth the view and history.....Happy Cruising...

We just got back from Adventure. We boarded the ship around noon and enjoyed being on early. We had a nice lunch, explored the whole ship, took time to unpack, and felt very relaxed.
You could catch a taxi to Old San Juan and explore but just keep an eye on the time. The fort of El Morro is beautiful along with the surrounding streets. You can also walk along the water at the base of the fort wall- called La Princessa- its a very beautiful stretch with great view.

Joey, time passes so fast that same day.... Without any airport delays 11:15am the same day turns into baggage retrieval, port transporation, security clearance, cruise check in and you can easily be at 2pm. The cruise line does a great job, but security and San Juan airport can be tedious. Get settled then take a taxi and keep track of time, Old San Juan is beautiful, the El Morrow is great sightseeing.
