The Majesty is a smaller ship at 73,941 GRT. She came out in 1992. The Jewel came out in 2004 and is 90,090 GRT. The Majesty was refurbished in 2002 but I think I read she was being refurbished again this year. The Jewel has more entertainment lounges and activities. The Majesty was a nice ship though when I sailed on her.

Question.....was the Jewel a little obnoxious with the interior? All thi pics I have seen make it look like a loud hawaiian shirt!

The Jewel of the Seas is not to compare with NCL Jewel.

RCCL´s Jewel is very tastefully, wonderful wooden craftmanship, extraordinary art, wonderful lounges, good design, and, and, and....

We love this ship and her sister Brilliance and will be on the other sister, Radiance, in may.

I saw many pictures from the NCL Jewel and my opinion is, that almost everything is over the top.No taste, plastic and terrible colours, what a bad designer they had.
And is NCL not able to place photos on their website. They are still presenting drawings from the public areas. Thats not good for presentation and public realtion.

My wife and I have been on all of RCCL ships and we'll never go back on the Majesty. We are spoiled by the Radiance and Voyager class ships. I think it's worth the extra $$. However, any ship is better than staying home. If you would like to look at a few pictures I took in Oct. of the Majesty including pictures of the bridge and gally, here is the link

Majesty and Sovereign do fine for those who are limited to a 3-night cruise. Yes, they are smaller and older than Radiance and Voyager class ships, but they offer a great 3 or 4 night product at a terrific price.

Sandy,
Your question was how do the Jewel and Majesty compare... There really is no comparison except for the short cruises and price. Then again when I was on the Majesty in Oct. it cost me as much as a 7 night cruise on the Enchantment in August. Depends on when you book. I see you are in Maryland. My travel agent is in Maryland we've been using her since 2001. She just booked us on the Voyager 7 nights with a balcony. The total cost for my wife and I is $1,640. Sailing Dec 9,2006. There are great deals out there if you have the time.
