how "soundproof" are the cabins aboard cruise ships? I heard a lady on a call in radio show yesterday talking about her "cruise from hell" which didn't dilute my excitement about my cruise, however one thing she said did raise the question about the sounds aboard. she said she could hear the people in the room nest to her throwing up from being sea sick. is this a common problem?

I have been on quite a few cruises I can honestly say I have not heard any noises in the cabins next to me, only late at night you might hear a door slam or possibly a TV if it is up real loud, just the normal sounds you would hear in a motel room.

I have never had any complaints from clients about loud noises on any ships they have taken.

I have never heard anything, but I do stay away from cabins with connecting doors. I would like to hear from someone who has been in one though.

Actually I was in a cabin on the Triumph last October in a catagory 6E on the spa deck, ours was a connecting cabin to our neighbors. Until the last day of the cruise we actually thought that there was no one in the cabin since we never say anyone coming and going and we never heard a peep over there. There was a couple in probably their 50-60's next door.

Congrats,
About you ?s you can go to RCCL site and find your cabin no. it would have this tiny marker letting you know if it is a connecting cabins.
Hope that helps you. If you don't mind me saying so I think you worry just a bit, but I do understand we're your coming from. We've been on total of 8 cruises yet I still remember my very 1st. Just have fun.

Well, I only have the 6 cruises and I can't remember hearing any sounds for the next cabins. You hear hallway noise, and on our Conquest cruise, we think we were one deck below Camp Carnival and you could hear thumping during the day hours (from the kids jumping around) But nothing at night.

Maybe if you were in the bathroom, you could hear the sounds coming through, but you would have to be really wanting to hear them. The toilet flushing makes a lot of sound and you can hear that.

I wouldn't worry about it.

I had a cabin on the Enchantment in Dec 05 with a door to an adjoining cabin-and yes we did hear occassional noise coming from that cabin-the noise level was tolerable and infrequent-then again we did not spend a great deal of time in the cabin!!

My sister and I were just on the Majesty of the seas in August with Connecting doors. It was very quiet. I could hear her son during the day jumping off something (being a boy).
