What are your chances of getting a small dining room table if you book early? I am going on the Soverign in October and have made sure twice that I have a small table request. We are traveling with a 3 year old and I would not want to subject anyone that might not enjoy dining with a toddler. I booked a small table last year on the Carnival Ecstasy but got a large table anyway. Thanks!

You should request a small table at the time you book. Small tables are usually tables for 2 or 4, but they may place you at a table for 6 so they don't have to waste a seat at a table for 4. If your sailing is not fully booked, you may be able to get assigned to a small table of that size. In any case, if you find upon boarding that you did not get what you requested, you can ask the maitre d' (preferably before your assigned dining time) to change your seating assignment.

My wife and I always book a table for two or if the kids are with us a small table without other guests. If the cruise line says they can't guarantee the table then we just shoot back and say well then we won't be cruising with your company. THAT ALWAYS WORKS! Again..land resorts don't do this so why do the cruise lines?
