Has anyone been on the Legend ship? If so, can you tell me what you thought about it, pros/cons.

I'm thinking of going on it next year to Aruba, but I don't know for sure yet.

I'm trying to find ships that go that direction.

Brneyes, if you sail out of San Juan on the Adventure or the Serenade, their itinerary is the Southern Caribbean. The Legend is a smaller ship.

We sailed on the Legend last January to the Western Caribbean. It was our first cruise so we don't have much to compare her to. Still, we were so favorably impressed we booked two more cruises with RCCL. The ship was clean and well kept in general. There was wet carpeting in front of the Ben and Jerry's more than once. Our safe didn't work well and someone came and fixed it within one half hour. (It needed a battery.) Some family played miniture golf but we didn't as the course greens looked a little rough with tears and patches. We didn't miss it as we had so many activities to choose from. The staff from the bottom to the top was great. The Purser's Desk staff were very helpful with several situations. The captain was very personable. Our Maitre'D visited our table often and was helpful, even to the point of cutting people's seafood (can't remember if it was jumbo shrimp or lobster). There was only one staff who was unpleasant, in the liquor store. Everyone else went out of their way to be nice and helpful.

Compared to other ships, as Sonny said, the Legend is little. But our next cruise is on the Empress. So, Sonny, if the Legend is little, how would you describe the Empress? A grand canoe?! That's OK, the following one is on the Voyager. So, we'll experience small, medium and large. I will always have a fond spot in our heart for the Legend for starting us out on the right foot.

I like it when people experience smaller ships before sailing on a "Voyager" class ship. Somehow they have a greater appreciation of the size. I was in total AWE when I first sailed on the Voyager of the Seas in 2001. Can't wait to sail on the Genesis.

Sonny, I'm still in awe each time. Everything about the Voyager class amazes me. How they manage to serve that many people at each sitting and get it straight without it being luke warm when served. The Promenade, all the activities and shops. The most amazing part to me is it never feels like there are 3000+ people and over 1000 staff on the ships. Where do they all go?

I want to sail Freedom or Liberty but the itineraries are "Been there done that" spots and I always find someplace else interesting that makes me put it off. Wish they'd stick one of them on a more creative route.

Cheers, Neil

Hi Sonny, I see you're answering again.

Yes, I know the Adventure goes that direction, but I really don't want to go back on the Adventure again. It is a nice big ship, and everything went fine, but after being on the Carnival Triumph with all it's glitz , I just didn't want to go back on it.

I don't mind trying a smaller ship. My friend who is to go with me, just wants to make sure she does not get sick. Maybe I should stay with a larger ship. I understand the Crown Princess goes that direction, but I haven't really read any good reports lately about it, since its accident.

I believe I read somewhere that the Cristal Summit (?) goes that direction (Aruba)also, and I'm not familiar with that line.

Thanks for giving me a little report in regard to the Legend.

Did you notice anyone getting sick because of the waves, or anything like that? That is my main concern with my friend right now.

I just got off the Legend a few days ago in Civata.. err... Civatta.. anyways Rome, Italy. Being a smaller ship, it does not have the draft that some of the larger vessels enjoy. This does affect the lateral stability of the ship. There was some rocking after Santorini but I never witnessed any major discomfort in any passengers.

drlivingston, thank you for the report on the Legends. I'm thinking I had better stay with a larger ship, as my friend is "afraid" of getting sick.
