drinks prices

could anyone tell what the big thing is about the drinks prices on board are. i know us brits pay over the odds for everything we buy, but come on $3.60 for a bottle of lager, this is very good especially when we are getting nearly $2 to the pound.being new to cruising were budgeting $150 a day this is for drinks and may be a go in the casino. everything else weve paid for in advance ie excursions, gratuities,
do you think were over budgeting please inform us. thanks

I don't find the drink prices to be out of sight as compared to a nice restaurant. My husband, a real beer drinker, was very pleased with the price of beer on the ship. We did notice that the martinis can be a little pricey and when you're in an American port, you pay tax but, all in all, $150 a day should buy lots of drinks. P.S. Chris - of the 16 cruises I've been on, cruising the Panama Canal was my absolute favorite. You'll really enjoy it.
