Hey all, I know this has been disucssed before, but I couldn't find the answer so i thought I would post again-
How is ice cream done on RCCL? My youngest loves the self serve soft ice cream machines on the Carnival Cruise lines ships. So she has been asking if the Mariner will have them too. So I need an experienced RCCL cruiser to answer the question. Do they have self serve ice cream or free ice cream on RCCL? And on a similar topic, in the Johnny Rockets ( I know there is a cover charge there) do they have shakes/malts and are they extra on top of the cover charge?
Please answer soon.. I have a kiddo who is driving me nuts and I want to be able to answer the question and be able to set her expectations accordingly.

JimC: I can only speak to Radiance, Explorer, and Grandeur. The soft serve is free and available most of the time. Johnny Rockets, you have to pay for the shakes, on top of the cover charge.
Jim, she will find the soft-serve icecream machines in the Windjammer and on Deck 11 where the starboard door goes out to the pool area. Tell her to leave some for me.
Outstanding! Thanks Sonny.. but i just can't make any promises on there being any left for you. But I'm sure they can re-stock by the time you go on your curise on the Mariner

On SOS I had troubl finding the free ice cream. Actually I think it wasn't set up until the second day. We got it at ben and jerrys a few times before we foundit. Once we went and it was out of Ice cream and once we went and the kids club was there and we had to wait for 50+ kids to go first. It is not always open but they do have that option.

Here is my question about ice cream from what I understand and according to my niece ice cream is served all day and all night on Carnival ships why is it after a certain hour RCCL stops serving ice cream what if you get a late night craving for some ice cream, my sister who has done some RCCl says she hasn't seem where they serve ice cream all night and day.
If you need ice cream all day and all night, then Carnival is the cruise line to be on. I've never seen ice cream machines in operation except for certain hours on RCCL ships. Maybe that's a good thing...
I guess I have to agree with you this is why my niece feels she like Carnival better what a thing to judge a cruise line on but hey to each his/her own I guess.
