RCI anounced today that they are suspending the fuel supplement charge! I read this on the fiance news and don't have more details as to what and where the charges are being lifted but this is still great news.

I'm sure the rest of the cruise lines will be following suit shortly.

Carnival's decision no doubt was a factor in this. But how ever it happened, this means my upcoming cruise just got cheaper again!

Shipboard credit is much better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick......Happy sailing...

RCI still has the option of their Oct 2008 article stating that fuel supplements are subject to the price being below the $65 West Texas price on certain dates prior to the calender quarter we are sailing in? I still also think this is great news that RCI has responded to the drop in oil prices.

Seems they've responded to Carnival's response to the drop in oil prices. I think if RCL had it their way they would stick to the original plan of applying the surcharge through 2009.

Sonny, in all fairness to RCCL it was their response to Carnival when they first implemented the charges.

Who would've ever thought I would be defending RCCL against CCL with Sonny. The world has gone mad.

Whoever followed who, I'm sure glad they are gone. I'm going to keep a close eye on CCL's rates to see if they jack them up. None of the cruise lines are going to like losing this extra profit. And that is exactly what it was in some cases. IMHO.
