I have been reading that the best beach excursion in St. Thomas is actually to take a ferry over to St. John's and go to Trunks Bay. Is this better than Megan's bay on St. Thomas? What is the difference?
Thanks!
Meagans Bay is not what is was 10 years ago.The last time we were there it was overcrowded with unkept restrooms, maybe I just it it on a bad day .If you want to go to a great beach on ST try Saffire Beach. The cab ride is about 15 and it chairs 5 . PS don't tell anybody else as the next time we return I won't have to fight for space. Have a Great trip!
It is located in the US Virgin Islands National Park is one big difference. It has a reef for snorkeling and an underwater trail is another big difference. It is also staffed with lifeguards. They have a snack bar, gift shop, and showers. The beach operates under the control of the US Park Service.
It takes some time and costs more to get there. But it is well worth it. The views going through the park are worth it alone.
Magens, Coki, and Sapphire are nice beaches on St. Thomas. Magens and Coki have more ammenities than Sapphire. Sapphire has a lot of small rocks when trying to enter the water. Trunk Bay is awesome! As Sonny said, it is voted one of the top ten beaches in the world. It is a National Park, there is a beautiful white sand beach, crystal clear water (if there's not a storm around), a self-guided snorkel tour about 50 yards from the shore. There are showers, lockers, snorkel gear rental, a couple of shops (shop in St. Thomas), and a snack bar. Any of the ones on St. Thomas are nice, Trunk Bay is simply amazing!
