Sneaking Alcohol on board

I have heard of people sneaking alcohol on board. Has anyone done this recently and if so has it worked?

I'm sure this has been addressed before, but I was surprised when reading over my documents yesterday that you can't bring any wine on board for RCCL - you can on Carnival, unless I'm misremembering. There's no exception for wine on RCCL that I'm not seeing, is there?

Cort, you can make arrangements to have wine delivered to your room through RCCL's Gift and Gear Department. This is done before your cruise date by calling (800) 722-5443. Prices start at $22 a bottle for red or white wines. You can arrange delivery for any night of your cruise.

I cruised on Nov 26. I put a small bottle in my packed luggage. Did not have a problem. Did not really try to hide it. Once in my cabin it sat on the counter and the did not really care.

I understand people have abused booze on some of these ships, but they need to ease up. I have no problem buying liquor on the ship, paying the cork fee. I like to have an evening drink on the balcony. In the old days, we would just hit the onboard store the first day. If nobody in your cabin is under 21 they should let us have fun.

I thought the only option was the Wine & Dine Pkg. Not sure that we want to drink a whole bottle of wine each night at dinner. If we do the Wine & Dine Pkg. can we bring the bottle of wine back to our cabin after dinner?

Or would it be better to pick selected days to have a bottle delivered to our cabin?

Sorry, but they don't let you take the bottle back to your cabin. They will but it on ice until until you request it to be served. If there is a bottle in your cabin, the steward will keep filling the ice bucket if the bottle isn't empty. You can get details when you call Gift & Gear.

Ok King, but the funny thing is on my last three cruises I have been OFFERED my wine to take back to my cabin. I think their theory is if I finish my wine, I will order more the next night, which I did in each case ! I know this is against policy but I agree with vafatboy that we should be able to enjoy a drink without breaking policy in our cabins. But I understand others have abused this, so we must all suffer. (Not really, I just sneak and charm .)
